Kansas Policy Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was formed in 1996 in Wichita, when a small group of Kansans founded the state’s first free market think tank. KPI has since expanded to include a full complement of policy scholars and fellows, full time staff, and a board of directors that includes members from across Kansas. Education and fiscal policy represent the bulk of KPI’s work in advocating for free markets and the constitutional principles of limited government and personal freedom. By publishing studies, hosting events around the state, educating policy makers and community leaders, and engaging with traditional and new media, KPI is an active participant in the policy debate in state and local government.
A second office was opened in Overland Park in 2012.
